Joe Swash is set to make a triumphant return to the iconic British soap opera, EastEnders, after a 15-year absence.
The 41-year-old actor will join forces with some of the show’s most prominent stars for a special spin-off project that promises to be nothing short of extraordinary.
An industry insider spilled the beans, telling The Sun: “There is so much buzz around the show at the moment and with so many big stories bosses felt it was the perfect moment to give the audience an exclusive behind-the-scenes access with a one-off interview special that will be hosted by Joe Swash later in the year.

Swash’s longstanding association with EastEnders makes him the ideal choice for this role, as the insider explained:
“Joe is such a huge part of the EastEnders family, so he was a natural fit to present as he has such a history with the show. The special is unlike one they’ve done before so viewers are going to love it.”
The upcoming special will feature Joe Swash in conversation with stars like Gillian Taylforth, known for her role as Kathy, and Letitia Dean, who portrays Sharon, as the soap gears up for a sensational Christmas murder revelation.
As for the airing schedule, it is anticipated that the special will find its place on BBC3 in the upcoming months. Swash had previously portrayed the character Mickey Miller on EastEnders from 2003 to 2008, and he has often characterized his exit from the show as the “worst ever.”
In a recent statement made just a few weeks ago, he expressed his thoughts on a potential return, saying: “EastEnders has a knack for resurrecting characters, so there’s always a possibility of a comeback! If they truly wanted me back, they’d give me a call. My life is pretty hectic with the kids, but if the opportunity aligned with my schedule, I’d be thrilled to return.”

He also candidly discussed his exit during his recent appearance on I’m A Celeb South Africa, revealing: “My departure from the show was rather anticlimactic! I didn’t even get a grand farewell at the end of an episode.
“Typically, a character leaves with the signature ‘doof doof’ music playing. But in my case, I went off to Norwich to become a hotel bellboy, and in the middle of a scene, I just strolled into the Queen Vic and casually bid everyone adieu. They turned to Phil, then back to me, and I had vanished. I couldn’t help but think, ‘Is that it?’ After five years on the show, not a single ‘doof doof’ to my name!”
