Noughties pop icon confirmed for Dancing On Ice after band reunion exit

Hannah Spearritt has been revealed as the third contestant taking part in Dancing on Ice.

The S Club star was confirmed to be taking part on Good Morning Britain on Thursday (September 28). Announcing the news, entertainment editor Richard Arnold said: “And the third celebrity joining Dancing on Ice next year is…”

A video clip of Hannah then appeared on screen where she told viewers: “I’ve got a little secret to tell you. Something I’m very excited about. I’m going to be on Dancing on Ice in 2024. I’m very excited, and I’m going to keep you updated on my training, and we’re going to have some fun!”

Hannah also said:I`m really excited about learning a new skill. It’s so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very appealing. Fitness is another reason why I’m doing it! It’s really exciting.”

The actress is the third person to sign up to the glitzy skating show. Earlier this week boxing icon Ricky Hatton was the first star to be revealed. Followed by Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney.

Hannah’s decision to join Dancing On Ice comes after she left fans gutted when she quit S Club earlier this year. The singer walked away from the group following the shocking death of former bandmate and boyfriend Paul Cattermole.

The remaining members of the group – Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee, Rachel Stevens, Bradley McIntosh and Tina Barrett – decided to continue as a five-piece. They also renamed the chart-topping band to S Club instead of S Club 7.

They announced the news of Hannah’s depature on Instagram. Jon said: “You’ve probably noticed that there’s only five of us here today, and although Hannah will always be part of S Club 7, she won’t be joining us on this tour. We wish her all the best for the future.”

During an interview on This Morning, the group also responded to claims that Hannah felt like she was “pushed out” of the S Club reunion tour – which is set to kick off this October. The band rubbished the headlines about their former member thought.

Speaking to the hosts they insisted they have projects planned through to 2024 and they would always welcome her back. Jon admitted: “I mean for us, for everyone listening, whenever an article starts with a source said you have a pinch of salt.”
