Russell Brand ‘facing second police investigation into sex predator allegations’

Russell Brand is being investigated by a second police force into allegations of sexual and physical abuse.

The disgraced comedian, 48, is currently being looked into by the Metropolitan Police over historic claims he had sexually assaulted women in 2003. But a second force – Thames Valley Police – has announced it is opening its own investigation.

The Mail Online claims Thames Valley Police said they were probing for “information in relation to the harassment and stalking allegations” made by an unknown woman. According to police logs seen by the publication, the woman made claims that Brand was a “sexual predator”.

Living near Brand around the time of 2015, the pair initially became friendly. However, the friendship came to an abrupt end and both the woman and Brand accused each other of harassment.

The force had previously looked into the woman’s claims and had dismissed the allegations. However, in the aftermath of the explosive exposé on Brand by Dispatches, together with The Times – officers are now re-investigating the claims.

The new allegations come as Russell continues to strongly deny all claims against him. More women have been coming forward with their own stories of rape, physical assault and sexual abuse in the wake of the documentary, with Thames Valley Police becoming the second police force to open an investigation into the Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor.

Russell continues to vehemently deny the “very very serious and criminal allegations” made against him in the documentary. Speaking ahead of the broadcast on Channel 4, Brand said that the claims came from a time when he was “promiscuous” and that every relationship he has had has been consensual.

In a statement, Thames Valley Police said the woman had gotten in touch with officers to provide more information in relation to “harassment and stalking allegations”. They added that they would be “investigating” what the woman claimed, and that “it would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing investigation”.

Thames Valley Police’s cachment area covers Brand’s home in Henley-on-Thames, in Oxfordshire. He currently lives there together with his family, where he bases his online video career.

Russell has already made big waves in the town after moving to the area in 2015. After living in the vicinity for five years, Brand bought The Crown pub in the nearby village of Pishill in 2020.

After the allegations against Brand went public, the pub went “into lockdown”, with locals claiming fencing had been erected outside the establishment. But despite adding security guards inside and outside the property, Brand was forced to remove the measures as South Oxfordshire District Council deemed the move “unauthorised”.
