Dick Van Dyke looked rather frail as he was pictured using a wheelchair during a family trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, California this weekend. Joined by his much younger wife Arlene Silver, 97-year-old Mary Poppins star Dick was in good spirits as he was escorted around the theme park by a cast member.
Arlene, 52, joined him in watching the Dapper Dans musical quartet perform, before the pair waved to onlookers from a balcony in New Orleans Square.
Dick donned a baggy blue jumper and loose grey pants for his day out, tucking a denim baseball cap over his white hair and sunglasses to both protect his identity and his eyes from the sun. Adding a simple pair of black slip-on shoes, Dick embraced his full beard while he was wheeled alongside his beloved.

Arlene, meanwhile, donned a Haunted Mansion off-the-shoulder t-shirt and a purple tank top, along with black leggings and a pair of retro lilac shades as she strolled off to one side.
Fans went wild for his appearance, with one commenter on Instagram writing: “I would have lost my collective spoonful of sugar if I saw the absolute legend there.” As somebody else agreed: “An absolute magical moment being able to see the one and only D.V.D!”
“True Disney legend,” another branded the star. While another social media user said: “I hope I’m this happy when I’m 60, let alone if I was lucky enough to make to 97!”
Arlene and Dick tied the knot back in 2012, after hitting it off immediately in 2007. Both were worried how the public would react to their age gap, with Dick admitting: “I thought there would be an outcry about a gold digger marrying an old man. But no-one ever took that attitude.”
He added to Closer Weekly: “We share an attitude. She can go with the flow. She loves to sing and dance, which we do almost every day. She’s just delightful.”
Dick later admitted in a separate interview: “Without her, I’d probably be dead.”
His latest public appearance comes after Van Dyke was involved in a car crash when he lost control of his vehicle in wet weather and hit a gate in Malibu. He sustained a bloody nose and possible concussion in the incident, but was not taken to hospital.

He admitted he was “sore all over”, explaining: “The airbag did not deploy, so I just did a face plant right into the steering wheel.” He had two stitches at his mouth, but said: “Other than that, it just made me a little dumber.”
However, one source said at the time: “Dick’s gotten to the point where he needs to be taken off the road — for his own safety and the safety of others.” They added: “Arlene is terrified if she doesn’t take the keys away now, it may be too late.”
