Elisabeth Shue’s ageless snap on 60th birthday leaves fans gobsmacked

Elisabeth Shue continues to blow away fans with her ageless beauty as she turns 60 today (October 6).

Nearly 40 years on from her breakout role in The Karate Kid alongside Ralph Macchio in 1984, the actress has aged like a fine wine, and continues to turn heads. Her birthday post on Instagram quickly amassed huge numbers of admirers, with some admitting she was, and continues to be their first crush.

One admirer wrote: “What a stunner!” While another said: “Happy birthday you beautiful and wonderful actress.” A third said: “Adorable – you get better year after year.” And a fourth added: “Incredibly beautiful!! My biggest crush!!”

Elisabeth featured in some of the 1980s biggest films, including Cocktail, alongside Tom Cruise, and Back to the Future.

She continued into the 90s with even more high profile roles including a multi-award winning turn opposite Nicolas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas. However, the actress who ditched Harvard University to pursue her film career took an extended break from Hollywood to raise her three children – Miles, Stella and Agnes.

Elisabeth settled down with her hubby Davis Guggenheim in 1994, and Davis was the one who encouraged his wife to head back to the Ivy League institute.

Now as she turns 60, the blonde bombshell still looks sensational and regularly shows off her lithe frame at fan events and TV premieres.

In her most recent snaps, The Boys star can be seen with her blonde tresses arranged into shoulder-length curls, and regularly wears glasses during her sporadic public appearances.

In 2021, the actress confessed she used to “beat herself up” over what other people thought of her. She said: “I think that was pretty detrimental to my soul.”

Speaking on the ID10T with Chris Hardwick podcast, Elisabeth elaborated: “I would tell [my younger self] that it’s OK to just be who you are.

“To be somebody who’s not caring about the business, to be somebody who doesn’t know how to wear dresses properly and is clueless about all the things that I was clueless about.”

The actress said: “I think I beat myself up so much when I was younger because I expected so much out of myself and was constantly comparing myself and wondering what everyone thought of me.”
