French film icon, Brigitte Bardot, has been spotted in the south of France on her 89th birthday – her first public appearance in years.
One of cinema’s most celebrated stars, Brigitte ditched the movie reel for the wheel, pictured driving a classic white mini van.
The Parisian star was papped looking as elegant as ever – donning fashionable circular sunglasses and a collection of gold rings, as well as maintaining her iconic blonde tresses.

Brigitte is said to have been driving from her luxury villa, La Madrague in Saint Tropez, to her property in beach town La Garrigue, for a laid-back birthday.
In the eighties, after appearing in more than 40 motion pictures, Brigitte became an animal rights campaigner, using her fame to set up the Brigitte Bardot Foundation.
The foundation seeks to ensure the welfare and protection of animals, with the starlet herself an animal-lover and vegetarian.
Brigitte is now said to live a quiet life in the South of France with many animals, including dogs, cats, monkeys, goats, and birds.
The Parisian celeb made headlines in July after her husband, Bernard d’Ormale, confirmed his wife had been seriously ill.
Brigitte was found suffering from breathing difficulties, and received medical attention from an ambulance that was rushed to her residence in Saint Tropez.
Bernard told French magazine Var-matin: “‘It was around 9 a.m. when Brigitte had trouble breathing
“[Her breathing] was stronger than usual but she did not lose consciousness.
“Let’s call it a moment of respiratory distraction.”
The ambulance was said to initially arrive at the wrong address, but after some close monitoring and manual oxygen, the star was fine.
Brigitte recently consented to a drama series being made about her life, but is reportedly baffled as to why the world is still drawn to her.
In a letter to Oscar nominee filmmaker Danièle Thompson, Brigitte wrote, “I want to be left alone, I don’t understand why the whole world is still talking about me, I stopped working in movies years ago and I want to take care of my animal cause”.
Later on in the letter, Brigitte agreed for her life to be captured on film, but only if it was by Thompson.
French series Bardot aired on the 8th May 2023.
