The TLC network is well known for launching feel-good shows that viewers fall in love with.
One fan favourite is Say Yes To The Dress, in which a series of brides hunt to find the perfect gown for their big day – but it must be within budget. Over the years the show has delivered some interesting and memorable characters.
The iconic TV show was originally launched in New York City’s famous Kleinfelds store with brides overcoming similar challenges such as issues with body image and appearance. Since the launch 16 years ago it has opened its doors in Atlanta and Canada and it has also set up a UK version in Essex.

Viewers fell in love with some of the brides on the show and so, at Daily Star, to celebrate the anniversary of the launch of the show, we have decided to take a look at some of the most memorable brides and what they are up to now.
Disney star
Disney fans couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw Sabrina Bryan appear on the show, who is well-known for her role in Cheetah Girls. The Cheetah Girl was looking for a big gown for her wedding but wasn’t really sure what it was she was after.
On the episode, she said: “I’m coming to Kleinfeld with a very specific knowledge of my designer. I just don’t know what my silhouette is.”
The star ended up bagging an incredible ball gown-styled dress as well as a second fitted dress. Since her time on the show in the 17th season, she has been giving newlyweds a voice everywhere. She has set up both a blog and podcast as she talks about her marital bliss.
Caped Bride
Hardcore fans won’t forget Jasmine Solaperto who was on the hunt for a sexy wedding dress. In the episode, she bragged to the consultants: “Dude, there’s no budget. We brought the Amex.”
The blushing bride went home with a racy romper that had a detachable skirt making it very unique. However, it seems that the fairytale wasn’t meant to be for Jasmine as she filed for a divorce in 2018.
In a YouTube video she explained: “Looking back, in retrospect, I know that there were so many red flags and I just ignored them.”
Fired bride
Sassy star Claudia Oshry was known as a social media influencer with the account Girl With No Job.
Claudia knew exactly what she was looking for and said no to dresses before they were even off the rack. At one point in the episode the wedding consultant Lisa admitted: “This is the first time I might be afraid of my bride.”
Months after the wedding, racist tweets by Oshry re-surfaced and her online show The Morning Breath was cancelled. In an emotional apology she said: “It’s not cool, it’s not funny.”
She has since started a new show called The Morning Toast, so it appears her apology was accepted.
Olympic bride
The Olympic Bride Dawn Harper appeared in season ten and she brought her Olympic medals along to the fitting with her. She admitted that she wanted to “feel like a woman” in her wedding dress.
In the episode, she explained: “On the track, I’m halfway naked all the time. So I would like to, you know, just wear something that makes me feel like a woman.” Her dream came true when she left with an elegant strapless princess gown that highlighted her womanly curves.
After the wedding, though, scandal hit the Olympic bride as she was involved in a doping controversy as reported by NBC Sports. She got a three-month ban from running due to taking a prescribed blood pressure medication that was a banned substance.

This sweet story was one for the ages and fans won’t be forgetting it anytime soon. Emily Summers and her fiancé Chris Norton appeared in season 17 of the show and had one requirement for the gown, it couldn’t be wide at the bottom.
The heartwarming reason behind this was that Chris is paralysed and wanted to walk down the aisle with his wife at the end of the wedding. They found the perfect dress and at the end of the episode their dream came true – Chris walked down the aisle with her.
Since their time on the show the adorable pair have raised a family of six foster children. They have also released a book called The Seven Longest Yards.
