Two and a Half Men’s Conchata Ferrell made ‘fortune’ from show before untimely death

Two and a Half Men star Conchata Ferrell left behind a “fortune” in earnings upon her death at the age of 77. The sitcom actress passed away in October 2020 “as a result of complications following a cardiac arrest”.

Best known for playing Charlie Sheen’s housekeeper Berta in the CBS series, Conchata died “peacefully, surrounded by family” at Sherman Oaks Hospital in California. Her co-stars quickly paid tribute to the veteran actress, who left behind a fortune in earnings.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Conchata was earning a salary of $150,000 per year, with a net worth of $10million. That’s despite only being booked initially for two episodes.

She revealed: “The best story about Berta is my audition. I think they wanted her to be the ethnic character. They asked me to come with an Eastern European accent.

“I liked the material very much. I love playing women who have the nerve to do things that I don’t have the nerve to do, and Berta is certainly one of those. So I worked it like they wanted, but I also worked it in my own voice, and I thought to myself, ‘You know, this really works better for me in my own voice, so what I ought to do is ask them if I can do it both ways.’ “

She had to fight off another 32 women auditioning for the same role, and eventually auditioned in her own voice, winning the creators over with the vision of Berta “being a trailer park person”.

She added: “It was supposed to be a two-part arc, and my character was going to quit because Alan and the boy were moving in.”

But showrunner Chuck Lorre liked her so much to keep her around for a total of 211 episodes – a whopping amount.

Along with her iconic role as Berta – which she held between 2003 and 2015 – Conchata also starred in everything from Edward Scissorhands to Krampus. But it was in Two and a Half Men where she made the most money – around $2.4million in total, according to The Things.

Upon the news of Conchata’s tragic death, her co-star Charlie Sheen paid a sweet tribute to her, writing on Instagram: “An absolute sweetheart a consummate pro a genuine friend a shocking and painful loss. Berta, your housekeeping was a tad suspect, your ‘people’ keeping was perfect.”

Though the contents of her will were never disclosed, Conchata shared three children with her husband Arnie Anderson – one biological daughter, Samantha, and two step-daughters. It makes sense that most of her money would have been passed down through her family.
