Coronation Street legend Sue Cleaver has revealed she’s bagged a new role away from the ITV soap.
The actress, 60, is best known for playing Eileen Grimshaw in the long-running show and for over 20 years, the fan-favorite character has been a regular on the cobbles. But it’s said she’s taking a “very short break” from Corrie, according to The Sun.
And it’s fair to say she’s been involved in several big storylines from her many love interests to her ongoing and iconic feud with Gail Platt (Helen Worth). Away from the show, Sue recently took part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year.

It’s claimed she’s stepping away from the soap temporarily. An ITV source told The Sun that Sue is: “taking a very very short break, just like other cast members have done in the past”.
Having been a regular face on the cobbles for so long, fans have recently been stunned to see the star transform her look after embarking on a health overhaul. Sue’s weight loss journey began in 2016 and she went from a size 16 to a size 12.
Despite her recent transformation Sue had a health scare earlier this year. She explained on Loose Women: “I had a really bad year. I had a hysterectomy in March. Then a few weeks ago, I ended up in A&E, I don’t need to go into details, but it was a scary scary time. I had surgery and ended up in intensive care.”
