Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice has broken his silence on social media following news that his partner Amanda Abbington has quit the BBC show.
The 33-year-old headed over to Instagram to share his thoughts on Amanda’s untimely departure after the BBC confirmed she would not be continuing in the competition. Sharing a snap of himself and Amanda backstage in their pyjamas on his Instagram on Monday (October 23), Giovanni accompanied the photo with a sweet message.
He wrote: “Amanda .. I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love @amanda_abbington74 @bbcstrictly.”

During the weekend, Giovanni was all smiles when he appeared on Strictly by himself. Amanda pulled out of the Saturday night show due to medical reasons but presenter Tess Daly confirmed that she would be allowed to return back to the show next week once she had recovered.

The news of Amanda’s absence over the weekend was also confirmed on Strictly’s spin-off It Takes Two on Friday night. Presenter Janette Manrara told viewers: “We have some breaking news, unfortunately due to medical reasons, Amanda will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.
“Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week. Amanda we hope you get well soon my love, sending you all the best wishes!”

According to insiders, Amanda pulled out of the competition early due to claims she was “fed up”. A source told Daily Star: “The schedule is very gruelling and after a series of setbacks on the show she has simply decided, with regret, that it’s the right thing to do.”
In addition to this, tongues were previously wagging after rumours emerged of an alleged feud between Giovanni and Amanda at the start of the competition. But the pair continued to put on a united front and squashed the conflict allegations.

Since the news of her departure fans headed over to X formerly known as Twitter to share their thoughts. One Strictly fan wrote: “Absolutely gutted Amanda Abbington isn’t coming back to Strictly. She was my favourite and a beacon for ladies of our generation.”
While another penned: “Not surprised Amanda Abbington quit. It was on the cards from the beginning. Poor Giovanni.”
