Amanda Abbington’s Strictly exit ‘annoyed’ Giovanni Pernice as he ‘wasn’t warned’

Strictly dancer Giovanni Pernice is furious Amanda Abbington didn’t warn him she was quitting.

The hunk, 33, found out the shock news from a producer just hours before it was officially announced on Monday (October 23). An insider said: “Amanda didn’t tell Giovanni she had decided to quit the show. The first he heard was a call from a producer.

“This has really annoyed him. He’s barely heard from her for 10 days. She hasn’t been replying to messages or telling him what’s happening. He’s been complaining about it to friends. He’s frustrated.”

Giovanni fears it has damaged his reputation. The insider added: “He is worried the drama will be damaging for his career and make him look bad.”

Giovanni is reportedly fuming at Amanda Abbington as she allegedly didn’t warn him about her Strictly exit

Amanda, 49, spoke out about her exit yesterday but didn’t mention Giovanni. She said: “It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue.”

Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two confirmed her departure on Monday night. Host Fleur East read out the BBC’s statement on her exit at the start of the programme.

The full statement from the broadcaster read: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future.”

The Sherlock actress was forced to withdraw from last week’s live show due to health reasons. And sources told Daily Star that she was “fed up”.

Gio revealed how upset he was on Instagram following his partner’s exit. He said: “Amanda .. I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love @amanda_abbington74 @bbcstrictly.”

Rumours of a rift between the pair have circulated in recent weeks. However, they seemed to slam the speculation during their appearance on It Takes Two.

When host Janette Manrara told them they seemed to be having fun, Amanda replied: “Yeah we are, we are! We do and we laugh a lot, we have the same sense of humour which is really important. So we’ll come out, work hard, and then we just laugh don’t we.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday and Sunday on BBC One from 6.30pm or on catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
