Family Guy fans say ‘you missed the joke’ after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry dig

US Sitcom Family Guy is well known for brutally roasting celebrities and has thrown a few jabs at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry since they left their positions as senior royals.

However, in the latest episode of the show fans think their jibe at the pair was actually not a joke at their expense. In the animated comedy series, the lead character Peter Griffin compares himself to Meghan and Harry.

Peter suffers from a cash flow problem and so he decides that he wants to “go at it alone”, which is similar to what happened to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they moved to the US. A scene then sees a cartoon version of Harry and Meghan sunbathing by a swimming pool.

A butler appears next to them and gives Harry a huge handful of dollar bills to which he says: “Sir, your millions from Netflix for… no one knows what.” And Harry tells him to just “add it to the pile” with the rest of the money.

The animated version of Meghan says: “Babe, time to do our daily $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco.” And Harry mutters: “I never should have left that made-up nonsense,” in a dig at the Royal Family.

Fans were left shocked by the scene and didn’t seem to like the royal pair being swiped at. They took to social media to share their views with many believing it was actually a jibe at the Royal family’s expense and not Harry and Meghan. One person said: “I don’t think this is the mockery you think it is.

“Family Guy is showing how much H&M are thriving and how easy it is for them to earn money without getting British commoners’ Taxes. Also – the Royal Family is ‘made up nonsense’ – so true! That’s the BURN!”

Another person penned: “Meh. Family Guy does this to all celebrities. Everybody laughs, and nobody cares.” While a third wrote: “‘I shouldn’t have left that made-up nonsense…’ The British Royal Family is royal actually the BUTT of the joke.”

However, some fans thought that the joke was funny and took to social media to complement the sitcom. One person said: “How much more mockery can this couple take.. keep it coming.”
