BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood replaced on show after wedding ring speculation

Carol Kirkwood was missing from BBC Breakfast on Friday morning (October 27).

The 61-year-old forecaster is a favourite with viewers, who have grown used to seeing her brighten up their screens with her joyful weather every morning. However, Carol was nowhere to be seen on Thursday or Friday, so her co-star Sarah Keith-Lucas stepped in to replace her.

It was Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt who hosted the show as usual. It comes after fans worried that her engagement had gone wrong as they spotted her without her wedding ring during a broadcast last week.

Luckily, their concerns were dissolved earlier this week when they noticed that the sparkling ring was visible on her left hand. “Morning, relieved to see your ring back in place. Thought you had been let down,” wrote one.

The previous week, a viewer had asked: “The red warning is serious. But not as worrying as Carol Kirkwood not wearing her engagement ring on BBC Breakfast this morning. Hope all is OK?”

Carol announced her engagement to former police officer Steve Randall last year live on BBC Breakfast. She said he popped the question during a romantic picnic by the river just before her 60th birthday in May.

However, she nearly ruined the big moment as she didn’t believe he was really popping the question. “It was a lovely, sunny day and we had taken a picnic with us, and we were sitting by the river, watching the boats going by.

“I turned to say: ‘What’s wrong?’ He was on his knee, and he proposed. At first, I thought he was joking, but he said: ‘No no, I really do mean it, Will you marry me?’ I said: ‘Yes!! Of course!
