Matthew Perry 911 call shares tragic insight into Friends star’s final moments

A 911 dispatch call from the night Friends star Matthew Perry died has emerged.

The Chandler Bing actor was found dead in his hot tub at his Los Angeles home at the weekend. He was just 54.

Gossip site TMZ has now obtained audio of a dispatch call referencing what happened and a man can be heard mentioning “drowning”. It says: “Agent 23. Rescue 23. EMS 9 on the radio. In response to the drowning.”

The clip is just 15 seconds long, and parts of the recording have been bleeped out. According to reports, emergency responders went to the star’s home in the Pacific Palisades area shortly after 4pm, regarding a “water emergency”.

Matthew died at the age of 54

News of Matthew’s death sent shockwaves around the showbiz word. It also triggered an outpouring of grief among fans, with many flocking to special media to express their sadness.

So far the actor’s fellow Friends stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer have not said anything publicly. But other cast members have paid tribute to the star, who battled drink and drug problems during his life.

Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s on/off love interest Janice in the hit sitcom, shared a picture of them onscreen together. “What a loss,” she wrote.

“The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.”

Morgan Fairchild, who starred as Chandler’s mum Nora Bing, said it was “such a heavy loss”. “I’m heartbroken about the untimely death of my ‘son’, Matthew Perry,” she posted on Instagram.
