OMD icon Andy McCluskey has revealed the oddest thing he’s seen in his life…a roadie popping out his false eye, licking it, rolling it in cocaine and sticking it back in.
Speaking this week, the 64-year-old – best known for 1980 single Enola Gay – said drugs were ‘everywhere’ on tour with Depeche Mode in 1988. Asked about the ‘debauchery’ of the Music for the Masses tour – in which Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark supported Depeche Mode – he said: “That tour was just powder city. The strangest thing I’ve ever seen in my life was one of their crew licking his glass eye, rolling it in the coke and popping it back in the socket!

McCluskey, who also founded the group Atomic Kitten back in 1998, reformed OMD in 2006 and later said the main reason for doing so was that his children had never seen him perform live on stage.
He said: “I was happy to stop working to be with the kids, but strangely enough they have been the most vocal in encouraging me back.”
