Ryan Gosling’s ‘too real’ Michelle Williams sex scene ‘landed him in trouble’

Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling has opened up about a steamy sex scene with actress Michelle Williams landed him into hot water on the set of a 2010 film.

The pair were starring in 2010 indie movie Blue Valentine together, which followed the dysfunctional relationship of Cindy and Dean, who are raising their daughter together.

Ryan opened up about the movie to The Guardian, describing it as an “anti-romance”, as he said: “Director Derek Cianfrance wanted this movie to celebrate people’s faults, to demystify romance and to make something that felt real. I was excited by that.”

But a sex scene in the film was deemed “real enough” that the film was caught in a classification rating battle in America, as Ryan’s character performed oral sex on Cindy.

Ryan continued about the steamy scene between him and Michelle: “The sex felt real – it wasn’t sexy or ‘a sex scene’, and that’s why we got into trouble.”

The actor insisted the scene only got him in trouble because he’d done “such a good job” in acting it out, as he said: “You shouldn’t be penalised for doing a good job.”

Blue Valentine was eventually downgraded to an R rating, which is when those “under 17 require an accompanying parent or adult guardian” as it “contains some adult material” and parents are urged to take caution when taking their children to watch it.

However, it seems the battle was worth it as Blue Valentine was eventually nominated for a number of awards after experiencing success in the box office.
