Timbaland slammed by Britney Spears fans for saying Justin Timberlake should’ve ‘muzzled’ her

Britney Spears’ fans have leapt to the defence of the Toxic singer after producer Timbaland suggested she should have been “muzzled” amid the release of her new memoir, The Woman In Me.

Speaking to a live audience at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., 51-year old Timbaland addressed the subject of Britney’s abortion during her relationship with Justin Timberlake at the height of her early success. And the father-of-three didn’t hold back, declaring Sexy Back star Justin, 42, “should have put a muzzle on that girl”.

Timbaland slyly added that he didn’t blame 41-year old Britney, however, because such revelations are required in order to “go viral” in the age of social media. Whilst his off-the-cuff comments went down well with the D.C. crowd, the same couldn’t be said for X (formerly Twitter), where Brit fans laid into the star over the remarks.

Some even suggested Timbaland holds a decades-old grudge against the pop superstar after she allegedly criticised him in a 2007 interview with MTV. Britney later antagonised matters by working with Timbaland’s former protégé, Danja, on her Blackout album.

One fan wrote: “Timbaland is still bitter that Britney left him hanging in the studio in 2006 and chose to work with Danja instead. His misogynistic self wanted her to collab with Justin.”

Another added: “Timbaland is the one who needs a muzzle. We didn’t forget about his gross Aaliyah comments. He’s still upset Britney didn’t want to work with him. A nasty man.

A third agreed: “I’m glad Britney is speaking up, their reactions are just proving that everything she said is true.” A fourth said: “He wonders why Britney is far more successful than both of them combined. Britney can show us her dog and instantly that dog is more famous already than ‘Timbaland’.”

And a fifth pondered: “In what world is a man telling another man to put a muzzle on any human being considered funny or normal? Even if the intention wasn’t bad, the wording is really gross. Especially saying this after knowing Britney’s tragic life the past 15 years+.”

It comes after Justin was forced to turn off his Instagram comments for fear of a backlash himself in the wake of Britney’s book release. Page Six reported that the singer made the decision because of the “hateful, disgusting things people were saying” on his page.

Just has been the subject criticism since Brit addressed their three-year relationship. She penned: “I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.”

She also revealed that she cheated on Justin in their relationship but only after he cheated on her numerous times. One time was with a popular celebrity who she wouldn’t reveal because “she’s married with kids now” and she does not “want her to feel bad”.
