Shania Twain tour bus crashes and rolls off highway with crew rushed to hospital

Multiple members of Shania Twain’s stage crew have been injured after their tour bus rolled off the side of the highway in a horror crash.

The singer and her team were traveling between Winnipeg and Saskatoon, Canada, when the incident happened. A bus, not containing Twain, crashed and rolled over at around 7am on Wednesday.

Injured crew members were taken to nearby hospitals where they are currently being treated for non-life-threatening wounds. According to a statement from Twain’s manager the collision involved a bus and a truck as the vehicles battled through inclement weather.

The musician was scheduled to play Saskatoon’s SaskTel Center tonight (Thursday, November 9) though it was unclear if the concert would be delayed because of crew members’ injuries.

First responders had to break windows to free trapped passengers while other victims escaped through an emergency hatch on the roof, local fire chief Dwayne Stone told Global News..

He said all the escape hatches, the front top window, and the back top window were removed.

“Slowly we got them out. We had people up on the roof, inside, people in the back, people in the front just working to get everyone out in a safe manner,” he added.

Parts of the highway were closed after the crash due to poor road conditions.

“Multiple vehicles encountered dangerous driving conditions due to inclement weather,” Twain’s manager said of the wreck. “Members of the production crew who require medical attention have been taken to nearby hospitals.

“We are incredibly thankful to the emergency services teams for their quick response and ongoing support. We ask for patience as we look after our touring family.”

The site of the wreck is near Wolseley, Saskatchewan, about 60 miles east of Regina, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a news release.

The bus had a Tennessee license plate and branding for Beat The Street USA, a Florida-based tour support company.

Beat the Street USA’s owner said in a Facebook post: “The Street USA bus experienced black ice on the roadway causing an accident,”

“All the passengers and driver are being evaluated for injuries and were immediately attended to by emergency responders and transported to the hospital for further treatment as needed.”
