ITV I’m A Celebrity ‘set for huge row’ as Nigel Farage branded ‘coward’ by new co-star

ITV bosses are bracing themselves for an explosive row on the newest series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

Producers of the show are expecting a fight to break out between two of the rumoured contestants due to be entering the jungle. Controversial politician Nigel Farage is among the rumoured line-up, with many fans already hitting out at the show for his supposed inclusion.

Fans of the show have been more welcoming to Channel 4’s First Dates star Fred Sirieix. The seductive Frenchman works as the maître d’hôtel helping to guide potential lovers to their table as sparks fly.

But a rift could open up between Nigel and Fred, according to fans, after an old tweet Siriex posted about the former UKIP leader resurfaced online. In the tweet, Fred blasts Farage and brands him a “coward who likes attention”.

The tweet, posted in 2017 by 51-year-old Fred, reads: “Farage is a coward who likes money, attention and the sound of his own voice far too much. Definitely not a selfless idealistic revolutionary.”

Fred was a keen supporter of the Remain campaign to keep the UK in the European Union during the Brexit referendum. Since the vote, he has regularly posted his frustrations with the government.

In 2019, an angry Fred took to social media to vent about how he had to prove his right to reside in the UK, despite having lived in the country for almost three decades. “@ukhomeoffice Just got a letter, apparently you need proof I have been in the UK for the last five years.

“Is this a joke?” he asked. “I have lived here for 27 years continuously.” Things did not get any better when in 2021, he slammed Brexit as “a con”, adding that the hospitality industry in the UK would be “grim” for years to come.

Nigel Farage is an outspoken supporter of Brexit, having led the UKIP party, which had been dedicated to taking the UK out of the single market. Since the referendum, Nigel left UKIP and established his own political party – Reform UK – as well as landing a presenting gig on GB News.

But Fred might not be the only person Farage might have beef with, as other European-born celebs are set to join the pair in the jungle. Amongst the rumoured line-up is Italian jockey Frankie Dettori and Belgian Tiktok starlet Nella Rose.

Farage has been scathing in his criticism for Europe previously, but has also been keen to stir the pot and rile tensions. Previously, the controversial figure joked: “I love Europe! France is wonderful; it should – we’ve subsidised it for 40 years.”

I’m A Celebrity kicks off on November 19 at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
