Abbey Clancy pays herself surprisingly low salary as model forced to take pay cut

Abbey Clancy has been told to cut back on her spending as she pays herself a surprising low salary.

Model and actress Abbey, 37, was advised by accountants handling her finances, as well as her firm Abigail Marie Clancy, to take a total of £56,000 home for the 2023 year. This is a huge cut to her usual income, as last year she was able to bring £160,000 home to her family.

Her own pay packet is significantly higher than the average person living in the UK, who typically earns a total of around £34,000. But for celebs, Abbey has kept things cheap, taking home a lot less compared to some of her fellow famous pals.

According to figures from her annual accounts filed by her business this week, her enterprise has cash reserves of £152,000. The firm also paid a total of £38,960 in corporation tax.

And, according to The Sun, Clancy’s business is still reeling after it took a huge hit during the pandemic. During lockdown, Abbey was forced to tighten the purse strings significantly as the business struggled to stay afloat.

Abbey admitted that during the Covid-19 pandemic, work had dried up for her, which made it harder for her to make ends meet with hubby, former footballer Peter Crouch. She also said that modelling jobs had disappeared, as well as TV and radio stints – a problem that continued well after lockdown ended.

On a note written onto her accounts during the pandemic, the business said: “Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in March 2020, all non-essential businesses and shops were closed. The associated “lockdown” has had an effect on the company’s operations after the balance sheet date resulting in a sharp down in its revenues.”

As the pair continue to get back on their feet, both Abbey and ex-England goalie Peter have put their money to good use. Spending their cash into bricks and mortar, the pair are snapping up two flats in London’s massive Printworks development – currently valued at a cool £1million each.

Back in the Victorian era, the Printworks building was home to the UK’s largest printer for labels on household goods as well as the offices for the Freeman catalogue. As well as their two homes in the iconic building, they also own another two flats that were converted from a church in the capital.

To help deal with their blooming property empire, the pair have set up two companies to deal with their finances – Coolabbey Ltd and Billco Ltd. The pair are also cashing in after setting up a podcast together giving advice to people in relationships, called The Therapy Crouch.
