Emmerdale star Samantha Giles has announced an upcoming role after leaving the ITV soap.
Earlier this month, Bernice Blackstock was caught red-handed and was forced to admit that she’d taken out a fraudulent loan in Nicola’s (Nicola Wheeler) name. She then handed the B&B over to her sister before leaving in a taxi.
“Onwards and upwards,” Bernice declared as she made her exit following 25 years in the village. The 52-year-old’s next role is coming as soon as December as she will transform into the Wicked Stepmother in Cinderella at the Bradford Alhambra theatre.

Directed by Kay’s daughter and ex-EastEnders star Gaynor Faye, the story will follow five supermarket workers whose lottery syndicate numbers come in just as their jobs come under threat.
Samantha will portray “kind-hearted worker” Denise, while Brooke, 31, will appear as Amy. Sharing the news on her X account, the actress exclaimed: “I’m sooo excited to be doing this next year! Samantha’s exit from Emmerdale was confirmed in October, with the actress revealing she wanted to spread her wings and explore other opportunities. She spoke out following her on-screen departure, admitting what she would miss the most about her character in a video.
She said: “The thing I will miss most about playing Bernice is I think I will miss being made up and having my hair done because I can’t do my hair myself! I’ll miss the character because she’s such a fun character to play because she’s quite a complicated person. I do get a lot of comedy stuff to do, which I really enjoy.”
Signing off the video, Samantha said: “I just want to say, thank you so much for your love and support for watching the show for enjoying Bernice in the show and who knows what she’s going to go off and do now?”
Already teasing a return, Samantha added: “Who knows if she’ll ever be back in the future? But thank you to Emmerdale they’ve always made me feel very very welcome here. I’m going to miss everybody, there’s some wonderful friends here, but hopefully I will work with them all again at some point in the future and it’s not goodbye, it’s au revoir!”
