BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s Carlos Gu issues plea to Craig Revel Horwood live on air

Strictly Come Dancing professional Carols Gu issued a plea to judge Craig Revel Horwood live on air after he prevented him and Angela Scanlon from getting full marks over the weekend.

The dynamic duo were awarded 38 out of a possible 40 from judges Craig, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke on Saturday (November 18) night as the group travelled to Blackpool. They performed an Argentine Tango to Back To Black by Amy Winehouse and impressed the experts more than ever in the process.

After their performance, Angela and Carlos received three from Anton, Shirley and Motsi 10s and an 8 from Craig, marking their first 10s of the series. They both appeared on Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two on Thursday (Novemeber 23) to discuss their latest routine.

Host Janette Manrara asked: “Carlos, let’s talk about this. You got perfect scores from Anton, Motsi and Shirley but Craig. Of course he mentioned something, stiff legs. Speaking directly to the camera, Carols said: “Craig, you know I love you but for once in your life can you not keep up with your judges please.”

“You came into the lift and they looked beautiful,” Anton said of Angela’s frame during the routine, before giving them 10 points. However, Judge Craig scored the duo an 8, despite praising the “storytelling” and “partnership” in their dance, calling it “absolutely wonderful”.

He said “I have to disagree with Anton about the leg situation. I thought you were a bit stiff. They are not loose enough and I feel like you are trying to control them. This wasn’t the only time on the night at which Craig’s scores were out of step with the other judges — he also abstained from giving both Layton Williams and Ellie Leach perfect scores.

In previous weeks, Angela and Carlos have found themselves in the middle of the leaderboard, with them scoring in the low 30s and high 20s. After hearing their scores, Carlos was overwhelmed with emotion and began crying with Angela comforting him. Fans have been praising Angela and Carlos’s routine, with one X, formerly known as Twitter, user dubbing it has “breathtaking”.
