ITV Coronation Street Carla star’s love life – toyboy, co-star flings and marriage proposals

Coronation Street’s Alison King is best known for her role of Carla Connor since 2006.

In her lengthy 17-year long career as the Weatherfield resident, Alison’s character Carla has certainly found herself at the centre of controversy in relation to some of her relationships on soap, with some outrageous storylines such as being raped by her boyfriend and having a steamy affair.

While her personal life off-screen isn’t quite as dramatic and a far cry from her alter-ego’s, it’s fair to say that Alison has suffered her own fair share of pain when it comes to matters of the heart. The actress has seen many ups and downs when it comes to love and has dated men older and also younger.

With three marriage proposals on the table throughout her life and a number of co-star relationships too, it’s no wonder Alison’s personal life has proved to be of particular interest to her fans and Daily Star has delved into the soap stars romance past.

It wasn’t until the late 90’s that Alison turned her attentions to the showbiz world first appearing in a Daz advert but later going on to land her next big TV roles. Firstly, taking on the role of Lynda Block in Sky One’s Dream Team. During her time playing Lynda, she met her co-star Jim Alexander with the pair hitting it off but soon calling time on their romance. Even though they’d made plans to wed with Alison accepting his hand in marriage.

But it wasn’t meant to be and instead Alison made her way onto the Coronation Street set in 2004. First appearing on the ITV soap as one-off character – Mrs Fanshaw – in a desperate bid to “sex up” Jason Grimshaw, who was played by Ryan Thomas. During the one-off stint, the actress really blew away soap chiefs and in 2006 she was brought back as a cobbles regular Carla Connor. Which brings us to her next romance and fellow co-worker at ITV.

Away from camera’s the TV star had struck up a relationship with Adam Huckett a sound technician for the same programme. With the pair going on to welcome a daughter, Daisy – who is now 14 – together. In 2016, the pair parted ways and pretty soon after, Alison did find herself saying “I do” but to Corrie co-star Philip Middlemiss with the pair tying the knot together. However, that seemed to end abruptly with the actress then being spotted with a man nine years her junior on her arm.

The new “mystery man,” was in fact IT expert David Stuckley, and it appeared that the twosome were head over heels for one another. It was reported they hit it off after hiring the same personal trainer. Alison and David soon were gushing about their engagement, with plans for a lavish white wedding in Greece during May 2020 and the TV starlet treating her beau to a Rolex watch after he’d popped the question on a cruise.

Lockdown was said to have worn heavy on the pair, with wedding plans (like many others) needing to be put on the back-burner until restrictions were lifted. But in 2022 sources confirmed that the couple had discreetly gone their separate ways. One informant told The Sun: “Alison and David have sadly decided to separate. They were very much in love for a long time but have ended up growing apart. They parted amicably and both wish each other the best in the future.”
