Jamie Lynn Spears’ feud with sister Britney – locked in room with knife to death threats

Jamie Lynn Spears and her sister Britney Spears haven’t been getting along swimmingly since Britney managed to exit her conservatorship.

The sisters’ feud has become the stuff of legend, with Britney repeatedly hitting out at Jamie Lynn on social media, while Jamie Lynn opened up about their relationship in an interview with ABC News before the release of her memoir Things I Should Have Said.

In 2022, the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star described Britney’s behaviour as “erratic”, “paranoid” and “spiralling”. Jamie Lynn has long since insisted she had no financial control over her sister’s estate when their father Jamie was in charge of Britney’s finances.

She revealed on Good Morning America: “I’ve always been my sister’s biggest supporter, so when she needed help, I set up ways to do so. I went out of my way to make sure that Britney had the contacts she needed to possibly end this conservatorship.”

Although she said it was up to Britney to “walk through the door”, Jamie Lynn claims she was “happy” when the conservatorship ended. She revealed: “When the conservatorship was put into place, I was 17 years old. I was about to have a baby, so I didn’t understand what was happening. Nor was I focused on that. I was focused on the fact that I was a 17-year-old about to have a baby. I understand just as little about it then as I do now.”

The Zoey 101 star said she “still loves” Britney, and even said the pair spoke before she headed off to the Australian jungle to compete in the ITV show. She told GMA: “I’ve only ever loved and supported her and done what’s right by her, and she knows that, so I don’t know why we’re in this position right now.”

Sadly, things only went downhill from there. Britney accused Jamie Lynn of trying to “sell a book at [her] expense”. She was also left fuming after Jamie Lynn’s 2017 performance at the Radio Disney Awards, during which she performed a remix of Britney’s songs.

Though Jamie Lynn said the performance was “a tribute to honour my sister and all the amazing things that she’s done”, Britney fumed that Jamie Lynn “never had to work for anything”. She wrote: “It may sound like a silly thing to most people, but I wrote a lot of my songs and my sister was the baby. She never had to work for anything. Everything was always given to her!”

Jamie Lynn publicly wrote back to her sister: “It’s become exhausting when conversations and texts we have in private don’t match what you post on social media.” She added it was difficult to “rationalise to my oldest daughter why our family continues to get death threats, as a result of their aunt’s vague and accusatory posts, especially when we know she could tell the truth, and put an end to all of it in one second if she wanted to”.

Jamie Lynn went on: “I can’t help that I was born a Spears, too, and that some of my experiences involve my sister. I’ve worked hard since before I was even a teenager, and I’ve built my career in spite of just being someone’s little sister.”

During one rant in 2022, Britney branded her sister a “selfish little brat”. She wrote on Instagram: “Saying how weird and dumb it was that I bought a house for Mamma!!!! She was so proud and you told that interview girl that it was just weird… LIKE I GUESS I WILL JUST WALK IN THESE HALLS… Why did you say that???”

For a brief time, it looked like the sisters were closer to making up. Britney headed to the Zoey 102 set to visit Jamie Lynn, writing on Instagram: “It was nice to visit my sister on set last week!!! I’ve missed you guys so much!!! Loyal girls stay home but it’s so nice to visit family.”

Jamie Lynn, however, refused to confirm whether the visit happened, and six months later, Britney didn’t invite her sister to her wedding to her now ex Sam Asghari.

And in her memoir, Jamie Lynn accused Brit of locking them both in a room with a knife. The book reads: “Britney said to me, ‘Baby I’m scared.’ And she took a large knife from the kitchen, pulled me along to my room and locked us both inside. She put the knife in the bedside table drawer and simply repeated, ‘I’m scared.’… I knew something was wrong and I was powerless to do something about it.”

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Jamie Lynn expanded on the incident. She revealed: “I never felt like she was going to harm me or anything. It just felt weird. And I didn’t understand it.

“I think this was a brilliant young woman who was going through a hard time, and if she couldn’t stand up for herself then somebody should have. I wasn’t an adult then, I couldn’t. Somebody should have said, ‘Stop the f***ing presses. Give this girl a f***ing minute.’”

Britney, however, called the knife story a “lie”. She said: “The topic about the knife which is ironically the only lie you’ve ever told in your whole life… Why is that conversation 20 min??? and the most degrading to me… OH BUT you don’t want to keep talking about it because you don’t want to HURT ANYBODY’S feelings… yet you let it linger forever saying you felt unsafe with me and WEIRD… f**k you Jamie Lynn!!!!”

She added in a lengthy post: “I flew home to Jamie Lynn on the couch watching her TV shows right after Justin [Timberlake] and I broke up… I was a ghost there!!! I had worked my whole life and didn’t know how to be served by Mamma… sit there and get served the chocolate milkshakes with the perfectly crushed ice with the secret chunky sugar meanwhile Jamie Lynn is 12, she indulges with the TV for hours then goes to lay out on a raft at the pool.

“I’m in shock because this was never my life!!! Justin’s family was all I knew for many years… Things were different now and Jamie Lynn had a new Nickelodeon show! All I remember saying was, ‘Damn!! How the hell does a 12-year-old land a Nickelodeon show?!”

The rant went on: “Well I never got my iced chocolate drink. I mean yeah, I’m a grown up right??? But then maybe I might need a little support… It was a People Magazine cover… the people show up and as Jamie Lynn says, I was scared!! F*** yeah!!

“My mamma was on pain medication and could barely hold a conversation in the house because her and my dad split and she was more messed up than anything!! I remember her sitting on the floor in a conversation and she never got up.

“I’m sorry Jamie Lynn, I wasn’t strong enough to do what should have been done… slapped you and Mamma right across your f***ing faces!!!”

Now it’s been claimed Britney is watching her sister compete on I’m A Celeb, with her team reportedly installing a VPN in her home so she can tune into the ITV reality show.
