ITV I’m A Celebrity stars could evacuate jungle camp as storms and heavy rain forecast

Josie Gibson, Nigel Farage and co could be forced to evacuate the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp amid threats of a fierce storm, it has been reported.

The stars of the ITV reality show are currently holed up in their jungle camp, which is in an area in New South Wales in Australia. Fans are used to seeing the stars sweating it out in the dense jungle as the temperature soars, but this year the I’m A Celebrity raincoats have been coming out a little more often amid some heavy rain.

And according to the Australian Government’s Bureau of Meteorology, it looks as if there is more to come. According to its forecast, “further heavy rainfall” and “active thunderstorms” could be on the cards.

The site said there would be “heavy rain” on the far south coast, with thunderstorms that could include “large hail, heavy rain and damaging winds”. It also predicted “fresh and gusty northeasterly winds along the coast and over the inland southeast, tending strong to gale-force easterly along the coastal fringe of the South Coast”.

It has been reported that show’s bosses have plans in place in case the weather means the campers need to be evacuated. It would not be the first time that bad weather has affected the show.

In 2021, the programme was rocked by Storm Arwen and a couple of episodes even needed up being cancelled. The series was taking place in Gwrych Castle in Wales instead of Down Under because the coronavirus pandemic meant travel restrictions stopped them heading to Australia as usual.

And as the storm hit in Wales, the programme’s production base suffered damage that ITV said was “significant”. Show bosses then told fans that, as a result, that weekend’s episodes of I’m A Celebrity would not take place and the contestants were able to leave the castle. Fans didn’t miss out entirely though, as compilation programmes featuring some highlights from the jungle aired instead. Daily Star has contacted ITV for comment.

It comes after the news that Jamie Lynn Spears has quit the jungle. A show spokesperson said: “Jamie Lynn Spears has left I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds. She’s been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities.” Her last appearance on the show will be in Wednesday night’s (November 29) UK episode. Her exit comes days after Grace Dent left camp early on “medical grounds”.
