Deal or No Deal player in tears as he tells host Stephen Mulhern he will die soon

Deal or No Deal turned emotional as contestant Brad revealed to host Stephen Mulhern that he would die soon.

Brad was noticeably upset and broke down in tears as he explained to the TV presenter that he had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and that his life expectancy wasn’t to be long.

MND affects the nerves known as motor nerves, or motor neurons that eventually degenerate and die and leads muscles becoming weaker and weaker. The outcome is eventually paralysis.

The brave contestant explained that he likely had a few years to live. But positively told the ITV presenter that Stephen Hawkings was also diagnosed with MND and lived for 55-years after.

Brad unveiled his serious health condition on the ITV show

With his voice breaking as he spoke, he told Stephen that he wanted to appear on the show in hope of winning some cash to start ticking things off of his bucket list. Brad also wanted to leave his family with some cash.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the studio as many of Brad’s co-stars who had now become friends began to cry as he opened up about his condition and his newly found positive outlook on life. Many were spotted on camera wiping away tears.

Brad appeared to be playing an excellent game and the atmosphere in the studio was dynamite. Everyone was getting behind him to win big.

At one point in the game, he managed to shed more blue boxes than red. More importantly he had the massive £100,000 still to be found.

At one stage in the game, Brad had played a blinder with way more red boxes still to find than the blues. The banker phoned with a high offer of £12,500, this was when the £75,000 box was still up for grabs.

Brad turned to his mum for advice. She advised him to play on given he’d had a good run of luck. But the game took a brutal turn.

After Brad had turned down the cash, he explained he’d had a dream of walking away with £75,000. However, that dream was shattered in the final round.

With four boxes left to open that included £75,000, £5,000, £10 and £5 it was all to play for. As the lid of the fourth box opened it was revealed to be the largest fee, leaving Brad and everyone totally gutted.

Things went from bad to worse, when Brad knocked out the £5,000 box next and telling host Stephen: “This is my life. I’ve always had such bad luck. Nothing changes, I should have expected this.”

There wasn’t a dry eye in the studio

Brad’s final offer from the banker was £4. He went on to open up his box in the last round, revealing he had £5 all along.

Over on X – formerly known as Twitter fans were equally left in bits as they poured emotional tributes for Brad, one person penned: “#DealOrNoDeal Brad deserved so much more, really unlucky guy I hope his life goes better in the future.”

Another chimed in: “Brad you might not have won big but you have a handsome fella, a lovely mum, a goat and loads of chickens, that’s better than any money! Thanks for playing your game and I wish you lots of love for the future. #DealOrNoDeal,” Another wrote: “I had forgotten how much of an emotional rollercoaster #DealOrNoDeal could be. Gutted for Brad.”

While others added: “That has got to be one of the saddest Deal or No Deal’s I have seen. Poor Brad. #DealOrNoDeal,” and “I’m in floods of tears, poor Brad.”

Deal or No deal airs weekdays on ITV at 4pm.
