Fans have been left so disturbed by one new film that they’re walking out of the cinema in droves.
That movie stars Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi, alongside Barry Keoghan and Rosamund Pike. Saltburn, released in November, follows an Oxford University student who is invited home by his aristocratic classmate. He’s soon drawn into his eccentric family estate for a summer “never to be forgotten”.
The film takes a pretty dark and twisted turn, and is leaving fans feeling disquieted after watching. Plenty headed just to see Elordi in action and were left haunted by the eerie plot.

One TikTok user posted a video of herself looking shocked with her mouth open and eyes wide, with the caption: “Just 2 girls who watched Saltburn without researching the plot (we went for Jacob Elordi).” While another social media user wrote: “I miss the peace I felt before Saltburn.”
Another viewer said: “So many things in that movie are permanently cemented into my head.” As someone else agreed: “I read the Wikipedia plot and I’m convinced I would still be shocked seeing the movie.”
It’s drawn comparisons to everything from Don’t Worry Darling, Midsommar and Call Me By Your Name. And while it’s “slow at first”, fans are gushing over the “chaos [that] has been there the whole time”.
Others were simply walking right out of the screens with one revealing on X – formerly Twitter: “Someone just walked out of Saltburn after THAT SCENE, and you know art is back when it makes people rage quit.” Another added: “The best thing about Odeon Limitless is that I feel no compunction to stay when I dislike a film. I’ve added Saltburn to the list of movies I’ve walked out of.”
Somebody else said: “I can now add Saltburn to the list of movies I have walked out of! Long, drawn out and my god nothing happens! There are only 3 movies on this list, the other two are Unfriended and Tenet. Hated every minute.”
It’s not the only movie in recent years to make fans walk out. One 2022 horror made by A24 featured a male pregnancy scene so disturbing it had fans ready to throw in the towel.
Men, starring Jessie Buckley and Rory Kinnear, follows Harper, who takes a break in a rural English manor house after the death of her abusive husband. But the village she’s staying in proves very eerie, and she begins to see one particular man everywhere.
One terrifying scene in particular sees Roy’s character give birth – to himself – over and over in a writhing, soggy mess of a twisted pregnancy scare. And at that point, some viewers were just done and out of there. Actor Rory, meanwhile, had to go full-frontally naked in front of the cameras.

The sick scenes see a man give birth to a man with a broken ankle and torn hand each time, over and over, replicating a bizarre cloning process that had fans ready to reach for the barf bags. But for Rory, filming was just second nature.
He explained to Vanity Fair: “As the film got more intimate, as the film got more versatile, odder, we knew each other by then so well, we had done so many other scenes together, that we had a really healthy approach to the tenor of the piece.
“If you’re getting on with someone as well as Jessie and I got on and you’re doing a scene where you’re bringing a lobster claw around their neck, you’re going to find it funny the first time you do it, but that’s okay. Because we both were committed to realising it as impactfully as we hoped it would be.”
