The launch date for season two of The Traitors has now been confirmed – and the BBC has released a first-look pic.
The nail-biting show had fans hooked last year as 22 strangers played the ultimate game of backstabbing and trust, in the hopes of winning up to £120,000. TV presenter Claudia Winkleman took on the role of host as she helped guide the contestants through the sinister game as they tried to discover who was a ‘faithful’ and who was a ‘traitor’.
But with series one now out of the way, viewers have been eagerly waiting for their next fix of the highly-anticipated show. The BBC has finally put fans out of their miseries as they announced that the second series of The Traitors will air on Wednesday, January 3.

Along with their announcement, first-look imagery of the show has also been revealed. In one of the snaps, presenter Claudia can be seen looking away from the camera lens while she stands in front of two traitors who are wearing the infamous coats from the series.
The BBC also shared short a trailer that also includes Claudia. Only this time the Strictly Come Dancing host was wearing the long hooded Traitors jacket herself as she looked up at the camera.
BBC producers have promised a very different series this time around as they understand that most viewers now understand the concept of the show. But to keep fans on their toes, series two will introduce a variety of different aspects.
Speaking at the Screen Summit, executive producer, Toni Ireland, said: “I’m excited because the game’s going to be different, people have watched the show now.
“When this cast came to us, they had never seen the show, they were just playing with their gut instinct and just going: ‘This is how I’m going to play this game.’ Now, I imagine a [new] cast will have seen it, they’re going to come to us with pre-planned ideas of the way they think it’s going to go, and obviously, it’s our job to make sure that they’re always kept on their toes and they don’t know what’s around every corner.”
Programme bosses are convinced that the new series will be another success and have already approved and opened up casting applications for series three.
Going forward, series two will air on BBC One on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But due to the schedule change, it has been claimed that season 18 of The Apprentice has now been pushed back until February.
Series one of The Traitors, which was set in a Scottish castle, launched at the end of November 2022 and came to an end on December 22. The first series attracted an average audience of 5.4 million viewers and was proven to be so popular that a second series was commissioned in February this year.
