Mama June announced her daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell has passed away aged 29.
In May, it was reported that Anna had been battling Stage 4 cancer for months after being diagnosed with the disease in January. The reality star, real name June Shannon, shared the news on Instagram alongside a photo of their family.
She wrote: “With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM.”

The 44-year-old continued: “She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her like she won’t and we will will be updating y’all with more information as we get it today. We love y’all and continued prayers and thoughts for our family doing this difficult time #mamajune #prayers #cancersucks #family.”

Fans rushed to share their condolences as one wrote: “Most of us watched Anna grow watching Here comes honey boo boo.. I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a child is the worst thing anyone could ever go through. June we all love you and your crew. Rest In Peace Anna.”
A second penned: “I’m so incredibly sorry. A parent’s worst nightmare. You and your family are in my prayers.” Another echoed: “Sending my deepest condolences to you & the family!”
A fourth added: “I am so sorry for your loss… I don’t even know what to say. Praying so hard for your family at this time. Anna will be remembered forever.”

After suffering stomach aches, Anna sought medical help. A series of tests back in January 2023 revealed cancer in her liver, kidney and lung, with Anna facing several rounds of gruelling chemotherapy. Family sources told TMZ that Anna underwent her first round of chemo in February, and the TLC star later lost her hair as a result of the treatment.
Earlier this year, Mama June said that she had been accompanying Anna to her chemo treatments. She told Daily Mail: “Honestly, the people that have been there for her since she’s been diagnosed is me and Justin, Eldridge and the girls. There’s no other family that come up there and sit with her during her treatments.”

The TV star added: “There is nobody that comes and checks to make sure that she’s good, to make sure that she got everything. It’s literally me, Justin, Pumpkin (Lauren Efird), Honey Boo Boo (Alana Thompson), Jessica. That’s it.”
Anna is survived by her two daughters Kaitlyn and Kylee. The biological father of Kaitlyn, born in 2012, is unknown. Anna shares Kylee, born in 2015, with partner Michael Cardwell.
