BBC EastEnders icon return ‘sealed’ as viewers ‘work out’ Jade’s dark revenge twist

EastEnders fans believe a major character is set to return to the square after spotting a clue on the latest episode of the BBC soap

Monday’s episode (December 11) saw the return of Dean Wick’s daughter, Jade, as she arrived and made a bang in the square. As fans discover she has no idea that her dad was accused of rape by Linda Carter, and watched her begin to build a friendship with Gina, Jade’s return has sparked a theory among fans that she is set to remain on the square for some time – and that would open up the doors for the return of her mum, Shabnam.

“Now, Jade is back, that means Shabnam can return. THEN, my Masood ! # EastEnders,” said one fan. “Welcome to Walford Jade ( Shabnam and Dean’s daughter) I wonder if Shabnam is on her way back to Walford?,” penned a second.

A third added: “I wouldn’t be surprised to see Shabnam making a return to confront Dean #EastEnders.” Fans also think Jade might seek revenge once she discovers the rape allegations.

“Shabnam’s clearly kept Dean’s past a secret to protect her, still letting her visit him alone on the Square? Definitely not gona stay secret for long especially given how the majority of the square actually feel about him. Still poor Jade, dealing with enough.”

Initially played by Beyond Paradise star Zahra Ahmadi from 2007 to 2008, Shabnam appeared as the rebellious only daughter of Zainab (Nina Wadia) and Masood (Nitin Ganatra). Zainab did not approve of Shabnam’s wish to go clubbing and dismiss her culture and, feeling lost, Shabnam left Walford to move to Pakistan in search of her roots.

Shabnam confessed that when last in Walford, she had a fling with Dean, falling pregnant and giving the baby away

In 2014, Shabnam was back, played by Rakhee Thakrar, who most recently starred in Netflix’s Sex Education. Befriending Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Shabnam confessed that when last in Walford, she had a fling with Dean, falling pregnant and giving the baby away.

Dean discovered the truth, although Shabnam attempted to cover it up by lying that their child had died. When Shabnam was attacked by a gang, she was found by Jade Green (Amaya Edward), who turned out to be her daughter.
