ITV Royal Variety Performance viewers complain as Bradley Walsh joke backfires badly

Royal Variety Performance viewers were left cringing as Bradley Walsh appeared to beg for a knighthood.

The 63-year-old host got down on his knees in front of the Prince and Princess of Wales and asked for honour during the special ITV show which aired on television screens on Sunday (December 16) night.

Addressing Prince William, he said: “Your Royal Highness, I worked for your gran, your great gran, your dad, your granddad, your great grandad, and now you. And I must say, ask me if I’ve got an MBE. Nah, ain’t got one. Ask me if I’ve got an OBE, nah, ain’t got one of them. Ask me if I’ve got a CBE – no! No. Not a sausage. Not even a member of the RAC anymore.”

Another viewer slammed the “extremely awkward” sketch and a someone else chimed: “What is Bradley Walsh going on about pleading for an OBE, CBE etc etc its embarrassing.” A fourth social media user fumed: “I do hope @BradleyWalsh whole act isn’t going to be about asking for a knighthood, yes I know he’s partially joking but still I wish we could go back to the no talking to the royals in your act.”
