ITV Corrie’s Ryan Thomas admits ‘huge’ Dancing on Ice backstage feud ahead of launch

Dancing on Ice star Ryan Thomas has admitted there is a secret backstage “feud” together with him and another contestant.

The former Coronation Street star, 39, is currently in the midst of training for his first live show next year. But speaking on his Mancs on the Mic podcast, he revealed that he is in a tight off-screen competition with fellow contestant Made in Chelsea star Miles Nazaire.

Chatting with brothers Adam and Scott, the ex-soapstar was asked whether there were any rivalries forming amongst those taking part in the show. He was also asked if there was anyone who he would deem as “competition”.

Adam and Scott, who have their own history of reality programmes, then berated Ryan for his supposed “rivalry” of Nazaire. The jeers came after former Celebrity Big Brother winner Ryan admitted he had been impressed by Miles’ physique when they first met.

Emmerdale star Adam then quipped that Ryan needed to “step up his gym routine” after locking eyes on each other for the first time. Ryan admitted on the podcast: “When I first saw Miles come in for our first dance routine I thought. ”oh my god! He is in good nick.”

Ryan is already deep in his preparations for the show, which is set to kick off next month. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Thomas would be performing with professional skating partner Amani Fancy.

Amani has been keen to update fans of the show with pictures of the pair rehearsing being uploaded to her social media. Taking to her Instagram, she said she was beaming with excitement to be partnered with Ryan, joking she had “nagged production” to work with him.

“I’m so proud to be your partner and cannot wait to see you thrive and become the skater I know you can be,” she wrote. “Who knows, maybe we won’t be able to tell who the professional is by the end of the competition.”

Ryan’s revelations come after former Olympic champ Eddie the Eagle joined the line-up after Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb was forced to leave the show. Stephen quit the show after injuring his leg in training, which doctors said would not give him enough time to recover and train in time for the first show.

Sharing the heart-breaking news, Stephen confessed he had to undergo surgery following the painful fall. He added that he was “gutted” to be out of the show – as well as his hopes of running the London Marathon, but wished everyone well – saying he would be “keeping a close eye on all of the other celebs” and give them all his backing.

Dancing on Ice is set to begin on ITV1 and ITVX in January of 2024.
