ITV icon ‘lets slip’ they’re new Dancing on Ice presenter as they drop huge hint to fans

Fans of Dancing on Ice are now “convinced” they know who will be hosting next year’s series, after a beloved ITV icon dropped a hint it could be them.

The hit ice skating show will be making its grand return to our screens next month, with twelve new celebrities gearing up for a new challenge. Already, however, the show has suffered setbacks after Gogglebox veteran Stephen Lustig-Webb was removed from the competition after injuring his leg during rehearsals.

Similarly, who is set to be presenting the show remains up in the air, with ITV yet to confirm the names of who will be hosting the show from the rinkside. In previous years, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield had been the golden couple to present the show, doing so since the show came back in 2018.

But after Phillip, 61, confessed that he had had an affair with a much younger colleague whilst working on This Morning, Schofield dramatically left the station. As a result, ITV bosses have been scrambling to fill his spot.

Now, it seems that beloved presenter Stephen Mulhern may have “confirmed” his new role as a host on the show. Posting a snap of himself in a recording studio, Stephen looked into the camera, with his finger over his mouth, suggesting the project is a secret.

Uploading the post to his over 750k Instagram followers’ feeds, he captioned the snap: “I’m in the studio recording a voiceover today. What do you think I could be saying?”

Fans seemed to believe that this cryptic caption, coupled with the secretive snap meant that Stephen had “given away” the news. One follower took to the comments section to give their thoughts: “Voice over for Dancing on Ice???”

A second fan agreed, responding to Stephen’s question with: “Welcome to Dancing on Ice!”. Whilst a third user added: “‘I’m the new host for Dancing on Ice’; that would be brilliant!” followed by a kiss.

Several people have been tipped to fill Phil’s shoes on the show, including fellow This Morning host Josie Gibson. However, usual anchor host Holly Willoughby had neither confirmed nor denied she will be returning to the show.

Holly, 42, had been carrying on hosting This Morning together with her various co-hosts after Phil’s departure in May. But following a plot to kidnap and kill the host was discovered by police in October, Holly walked from the show, opting instead to prioritise her family – but also seemingly left her with a fear of hosting live TV.

ITV bosses have been scrambling to bring her back to the show, offering her a lucrative contract with added security measures. Willoughby has yet to respond to the contract, but with the show set to start in just a matter of weeks, producers are hoping she signs on the dotted line as soon as possible.

Dancing on Ice is set to air in the new year on ITV1 and ITVX.
