Daisy May Cooper says ‘rehab was best thing she’s done’ as she praises ‘angel’ addicts

Daisy May Cooper has said going to rehab was the “best thing she’s done”, and branded addicts “angels on Earth”.

The comedian and write took herself to rehab for a break following the collapse of her marriage to Will Weston after the birth of their second child in October 2020. This Country star Daisy, , told her agent she needed a break, and so she checked in to rehab.

“I went there and now I want to write a film about it, because it was extraordinary,” Daisy said. “Addicts are some of the most interesting, funny, smart, creative and loving people I’ve met in my life.”

Speaking to The Sun, she continued: “You can see why it happens. They’re sort of angels on Earth who haven’t been equipped to live amongst the muggles.”

Daisy is now loved-up with her new man Alex, who puts up billboards and doesn’t come from the showbiz world. She’s also given up drinking.

“I was waking up thinking: ‘F***, what did I do last night? What did I say?’ Another wasted Sunday,” she said.

“It suddenly occurred to me that I didn’t have to do this any more. I didn’t have to torture myself.”

And it seems allowing herself to be completely present in her own life could end up being very useful. While she’s planning her own movie, it sounds like she’s got another writing gig in the bag too.

Her friend Katie Price recently revealed that Daisy has told her she’s determined to write her life movie. Daisy recently appeared on the Pricey’s podcast.

And speaking on Jamie Laing’s podcast Private Parts, Katie said: “I’ve known [Daisy] for a couple of years now, and on the podcast, she’s like: ‘I’ve got to write your Netflix film’. She’s so adamant – she really wants to do it.”
