ITV Corrie fans all say same thing as soap airs shortest Christmas episode in decades

ITV Coronation Street fans all said the same thing as they sat down to watch the soap’s Christmas episode.

As Peter Barlow prepares to say goodbye to the cobbles on Boxing Day, fans took to social media to complain about how boring the episode was.

Peter recently got a postcard from his friend Mickey, who lives in the Mediterranean, which asked him to come and join him.

Carla decided to encourage her husband to seize the day and go, and decided to give him a boarding pass to fly out.

Peter asked: “”A plane ticket? One way?” to which Carla explained: “It’s to join your mate’s crew!”

As Peter then asked where hers was, Carla admitted: “It’s a present for you… I’m not coming, love,” which paves the way for Peter’s exit.

Despite the emotional scenes, fans took to social media to complain about the sweet storylines, as some claimed they were bored.

One moaned on X, formerly known as Twitter: “That was so abysmal I actually missed Fiz meeting Father Christmas last year.”

Another added: “For gods sake can’t you NOT have a Billy and Paul scene AGAIN boring now,” as a third chimed in: “Well that was a very dull episode!”

A fourth said: “Blimey it must be Christmas! Daniel’s found Bertie & the quads have been allowed downstairs for the first time since May.”

A fifth penned: “I hate that the episode was only half hour instead of the usual Xmas hour,” as a sixth agreed: “At least we only have to endure 30 minutes tonight, See there is a God!”

Corrie’s half hour episode broke the soap’s usual tradition of an hour, and it is first shorter episode since 1997.

Emmerdale also went for a shorter episode at half an hour, and has had an hour episode at Christmas since 2004.
