Holly Willoughby stunned This Morning fans as she briefly returned to present the ITV programme.
Willoughby had not been seen on the show since she dramatically quit the programme in October. After a plot to kidnap and murder the presenter was foiled by the Metropolitan Police was uncovered, Holly left the show and has not been seen on TV since.
But on Wednesday (December 27), Holly made a brief appearance on the show once again, two months after quitting the programme. Hosted by relief presenters Emma Willis and Rylan Clark, the pair introduced Holly back onto the show – in a rather unusual way.

As the show began to wrap up for another year, the show was inundated with previous best bit moments from the show over the past twelve months. This included a look back at moments of festive cheer during the course of the year.
Emma and Rylan went on to introduce an interview with musical superstar Idina Menzel that had aired back in July. Menzel, best known for playing the role of Elsa in Disney smash hit Frozen, was interviewed by Irish hunk Craig Doyle and blonde bombshell Holly – her first appearance on the show since leaving the programme.
While the interview was not live, fans were quick to take to social media to gush over Holly’s return to the show. One user watching the show at home said: “I’ve just turned my TV on, is Holly back on This Morning?”
Another fan was simlarly confused, asking: “Just tuned into This Morning…am I seeing things right?” Whilst a third commenter quipped: “Viewers just switching on will think Holly’s back!”
But some viewers were quick to shut down any confusion, pointing out that the interview was part of a compilation of best bit interviews throughout the year. One viewer did, however, hope that Willoughby could come back in the future, typing: “I think Holly will make a return eventually.”
Willoughby, 42, had been permanently presenting the show since 2009, taking on the role for 14 years. However, things for Holly began to take a turn for the worse when partner in crime and co-host Phillip Schofield dramatically left the show in May.
Initially leaving due to rumours of an ongoing feud between the pair, Phillip would later hit the headlines after it was revealed he had been having a secret affair with a much younger colleague. Schofield promptly left the broadcaster entirely, leaving Holly to host the show on her own.
After taking extended time off during the mid-term holidays in summer, Holly returned to the show. In her first moments back on air, she read a self-penned statement that insisted she knew nothing of the relationship and that Phil’s betrayal had hurt her deeply.
Mere months later, following an alleged plot to kidnap Holly, she confirmed she would also be stepping down from this Morning, and hasn’t been back since October.
This Morning airs every weekday at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
