Holby City legend Rosie Marcel suffered her own real life medical emergency with her husband rushed to hospital.
In what could have been a scene in the long running BBC hospital soap, Rosie – best known for playing Jac Naylor in the medical drama – shared pictures of the dramatic scenes on her Instagram showing her poorly husband being attended to by a paramedics at their home. He was rushed by ambulance into their local hospital.
The 46-year-old explained her spouse – Ben Stacey – had been suffering with a plural effusion and a partially collapsed lung and she was forced to call for an ambulance as his condition worsened. The actress praised the NHS for their help in saving her husband.

Rosie wrote: “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Grateful for the NHS.”
Discussing the terrifying event in her own life away from the camera, Rosie captioned the post: “And now this. My poor hubby has a plural effusion and a partially collapsed lung.
“He was sent home this morning but the pain worsened and we had to call an ambulance. He’s being admitted and treated.
She added: “Hoping my Eric is looking after him while I get some shut eye after a long night.” Rosie shared multiple snaps of paramedics with their equipment tending to her husband, Ben, who sat patiently on a cream sofa at their home.
Rosie’s fans were swift to send their well wishes to the worried actress. “Thoughts are with you guys. At least he’s in good hands,” wrote a concerned fan.
Another made reference to Rosie’s previous role, writing: “Jac would’ve had him fixed in no time at all. Hope he gets better soon.”
And a third fan said:: “So sorry to see this. I hope he makes a speedy recovery. You guys have been through so much. Sending much love and hugs. Xx” Their sentiments were echoed by a fourth user: “Oh my goodness Rosie. I’m so sorry to hear this.
“I hope he will recover quickly and all will be well again. Sending so much love to you all. Xxxx.”
And a fifth commented: “Thinking about you both.” Their comment was followed with two heart symbols.
Rosie played the consultant cardiothoracic surgeon lead from 2002 until the final ever episode of Holby City in 2022.
Jac was killed off in the final ever episode of the medical series after the publicly funded broadcaster cancelled the show after 23 years on screen. She also played the long-featured character on both sister shows, HolbyBlue and Casualty.
