Neighbours came back with a bang in 2023 after fans were left devastated following the news the Australian soap was being cancelled after 37 years on air.
After being axed, the serial drama was saved by Amazon Freevee and it returned in September 2023 with old faces, new characters and plenty of drama.

Bosses have so far remained tight-lipped on some of the major storylines for 2024 but Daily Star has taken a look at some AI predictions and fan theories to see what could happen in Erinsborough in the new year.
Haz’s sister arrives

Soap bosses have confirmed that Haz Devkar’s sister Amira will arrive in Erinsborough in the new year. Maira Thattill will play the sibling of the Neighbours regular but fans will have to wait and see what exactly brings her to Ramsay Street. Confirming her exciting news, Maria gushed on Instagram: “I couldn’t be more proud to join the beautiful Neighbours cast at a time when the show is evolving to tell even more Australian stories.
“Imagining 10 year old me turning on the telly to see herself is pretty surreal … even more so because I can’t remember ever seeing a gay, female South Asian character on an Australian TV show. Can you? Grateful to @neighbours and @channel10au for the honour of being authentic representation of what we’ve been missing. And to do it with a bang. See you in 2024!”
Melanie and Toadie reunion

According to artificially intelligent “creative” tool Bard AI, Toadie Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney) is “likely” to get back with ex Melanie Pearson (Lucinda Cowden) following her shock return to Ramsay Street. Toadie is currently married to Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou) but AI says “if fans are overwhelmingly in favour of Toadie and Melanie getting back together, the writers may be more likely to make it happen”.
Richie’s return

Old faces popped up at the Save Erinsborough High protest recently and one character in particular stood out to fans who are now demanding a full redemption and return. Played by actor Lach Miller, viewers first saw Richie Amblin in 2019 as a student at the school where he was disruptive in classes with teacher Elly Conway (Jodi Gordon) and fans will also remember his romance with Mackenize Hargraves (Georgie Stone). Fellow his cameo return, fans are now begging for bosses to bring him back
Chloe’s death

Some devastated Neighbours fans are convinced that Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) will sadly lose her battle with Huntington’s disease in 2024. The popular character received the diagnosed in 2018 and she started experiencing symptoms in recent scenes. Taking to X, formerly know as Twitter, One fan tweeted: “Oh just had a Neighbours thought is Chloe gonna be the first Amazon death with her Huntington’s.” Another added: “If they kill Chloe I don’t know what i’ll do.” A third person posted: “They better not be killing off my Chloe!”
