The Chase’s Bradley Walsh ‘heartbroken’ as BBC Breakfast star forfeits £104k

Bradley Walsh was left pleading “I’m sorry” to celebrity contestant Dan Walker after he suffered an epic loss on The Chase.

Holding his hand on his heart, Bradley was left gutted alongside the TV star, who appeared alongside four other celebrity contestants for a charity special. The BBC Breakfast star’s teamamtes included Scottish politician Ruth Davidson, musician Mark King and reality star Ferne McCann.

The tension was palpable as they took on the formidable Chaser, Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha. Ruth Davidson set the pace by raking in £7,000 during her cash-builder round, securing her spot in the final chase.

Mark King followed suit, adding £4,000 to the prize fund, followed by Ferne McCann, who contributed £5,000 but opted for a safer lower offer of £1,000, keeping her place on the team. Then came the pivotal moment for Dan Walker, who had amassed an impressive £8,000 in his cash-builder round.

The Chaser, recognizing Dan’s potential, offered him a jaw-dropping £104,000, eliciting words of encouragement from both Paul Sinha and Bradley Walsh. “I don’t often say this, but good luck,” Paul wished Dan, with Bradley echoing the sentiment: “Absolutely, good luck.”

The pressure was on as Dan faced a crucial question: “In 2019, which Marvel film became the first superhero film to be nominated for the ‘Best Picture’ Oscar?” The options were: “Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, or Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

While Paul Sinha correctly chose “Black Panther” as the answer, Dan’s response, “Avengers: Infinity War,” proved to be a costly error. “Come on Dan, another one we’re all over. We’re all over this,” Bradley encouraged him, hoping for a different outcome.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be, and Dan’s bold gamble didn’t pay off. The £104,000 slipped away, leaving Bradley Walsh with a solemn admission: “I’m so so sorry,” he said, holding his head in his hands.

Dan held his head high, and turned to his remaining teammates and wished them good luck in the final Chase. “I wish you all the best for the final round,” he said, before leaving the studio.

Luck was on their side – the remaining trio managed to beat Paul Sinha with just seconds to spare, meaning they took home £12,000 between them for their chosen charities.
