Declan Donnelly left pubgoers stunned when he took to the mic and sung Billy Joel’s hit Piano Man on New Year’s Eve.
The 48-year-old presenter sang his heart out at a country boozer near Newcastle – and pubgoers couldn’t resist joining in. Dec, famed for presenting shows such as I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! alongside best pal Anthony McPartlin, continued the party with locals back at his mum’s house.
Clips showed Dec in front of the mic at The Bagder in posh Ponteland, Northumberland. The ITV star joined local band, The Optics, for the impromptu singalong of the 1973 classic.

Pubgoers raised their glasses and cheered as Dec attempted to hit the high notes. Discussing his performance, one punter told The Sun: “Dec was in on New Year’s Eve with his family. They seemed to be having a great time. He is such a lovely person. Exactly like he is on TV.
The pubgoer also claimed that Dec often pops into the local public house and his sister is also known to go too. Dec grew up not too far from the pub in a three-bed council house with his parents and six other siblings.
The TV host repeatedly offered to buy his mum Annie a new home as his career rocketed, but she refused and instead stayed in the property worth £10,000.
Later on, Dec headed over to social media and posted a picture of himself in his mum’s kitchen with one of the locals. The star enjoyed Christmas at home with his family after spending weeks in Australia filming I’m A Celebrity alongside Ant.
The 2023 series saw former Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson being crowned as the new king of the jungle. Following his win, Ant and Dec headed over to Instagram to congratulate Sam on their shared account.
They wrote: “Agent Murph has been promoted to King of the Jungle Massively deserved @samthompsonuk! Your energy, enthusiasm and endless hugs never failed to put a smile on everyone’s face! The biggest thank you to all the crew and everyone who joined us at home, see you soon x.”
