Jeremy Clarkson bought luxury Range Rover to punish ‘annoying’ Chris Packham

Jeremy Clarkson claims he splashed out on a Range Rover to annoy Chris Packham.

The Clarkson’s Farm star, 63, had planned to buy a Land Rover Defender. But after seeing naturalist Chris on the box he went for a 155mph, four-litre, petrol Range Rover Autobiography.

Jezza said: “I settled on a Defender with a smallish diesel engine. But then Chris Packham said something annoying on television so I decided to annoy him back by cancelling the Defender.

“My hot internal walnut of spite was determined to punish Packham so it had to be a Range Rover with a V8 that produces more carbon dioxides than India. It’s comforting to know that by talking about the environment Packham has actually made it a little worse.’’

Jeremy recently revealed he was left “upset” in the run up to Christmas after a sad death on his Diddly Squat farm. The former Top Gear frontman was left with some bad news in the days before Christmas when his partner Lisa Hogan’s horse died.

However, it sounds like he had been expecting it. He wrote in his column: “When Lisa’s horse died I was upset because I could see she was. And because I would have to deal with it.”

The horse, Bertie, had been found “lying on his side, in a stream”, Jeremy explained. However, that suggested to him that “something was probably wrong”.

He added in his column with The Times: “At least with all this unpleasantness out of the way we won’t have to face it tomorrow.” But it sounds like he was expecting more bad news.

Jeremy went on: “Which will free up some time for some other unpleasantness. A cow getting on to the road and being run over by someone on their way to the petrol station?

“A sheep mastering the art of self-combustion? A fox in the henhouse again? They’re all possibilities.”
