Coronation Street fans were utterly baffled when they spotted a major error as two residents celebrated a major milestone.
During Wednesday’s visit to the ITV cobbles, fans caught up with Asha and Aadi Alahan as they planned their epic birthday bash. Dev and his wife Sunita welcomed the twins back in 2006, but they have had their fair share of struggles along the way.
Just years later, their mum died in harrowing scenes at the hands of her ex-lover Karl Munro in a terrible fire at the Rovers Return. In the build up to the teens’ big day, Dev could be seen taking a walk down memory lane as he looked through a photo album with his daughter.

He gushed: “I was just rooting around some old photos and look at this one. You were about two minutes old there. Aadi is slightly older obviously.
“It’s hard to believe you’re going to be 19 in a few days’ time. Time flies my little honey bun.” After the hour-long episode hit the airwaves, the official account for the ITV soap shared a throwback snap of them being born.
They captioned it: “The Alahan twins turn 10 this week! Who remembers back to when they were born?” After watching the adorable scenes play out, confused viewers flooded to the social media site X – formerly known as Twitter – to point out one major error online.
Viewers couldn’t help but point out that ITV bosses had accidentally worked out their ages incorrectly. One user penned: “Clearly not Dev or the #CoronationStreet writing team, because they were born in 2006… (for those who struggle with maths, they’ll be 18).
“Seriously, if you’re going to goof on the ages of you characters, why draw attention to it with a tweet like this!?” Another asked: “Can you explain how they’re 19 if they were born 18 years ago?” as a third echoed: “They’re turning 19? 18 years after they were born? How does that work out?”
When one asked why they were “aged up” another suggested: “Probably so they were the same ago as Amy and Summer so [they] could hang out and go partying together once adults.” Someone else suggested: “It might have been that during Covid, the older actors were shielded and the younger ones given more storylines and bigger parts.
“So they wanted to bring the mature storylines forward.” A third agreed: “Yeah they did get aged up for mature storylines and so the teens could be the same age and same year in school.

“In future it’ll probably change back to their actual age.” Meanwhile another shared: “For storylines I think. Sophie Webster was aged down a year so she started secondary school with Chesney but was returned to original birth year for her coming out storyline.”
