Dancing On Ice’s Ryan Thomas shoving sock down pants for show

Dancing On Ice hopeful Ryan Thomas says he’s going to stuff a sock down his pants for the show.

The former Coronation Street star is worried he won’t be flattered by a combination of a cold rink and skin-tight costumes.

Ryan, 39, said: “I love them – the tighter the better. The only thing is, I’ll be putting a sock down there because it’s cold on the ice.

“I don’t care about colours. I don’t care about skirts, I don’t care about leotards. You put me in it, I’ll wear it. I love dressing up.”

The actor, best known as Weatherfield’s Jason Grimshaw, admitted that he already has skating skills to help his bid to win the reality telly show.

But he also conceded that he is more fearful about causing his pro dancing partner Amani Fancy damage than himself.

Ryan said: “As a kid, I played roller hockey. I’m fearless. All I’m worried about is dropping Amani, there’s a lot of responsibility in my hands, literally.

“But I’m not holding back on lifts. This is fighting talk.”

Ryan explained that he has been enjoying the support from his family after signing up for the new series.

He added: “They were delighted for me, because they know how much I enjoy skating.

“My being on the show seems a bit like fate actually, because the week before I got the phone call, my 15-year old daughter Scarlett said to me out of the blue, ‘Dad, will you do Dancing On Ice?’”
