Gladiators star forced to wear special underwear as he admits he ‘needs more support’

Gladiators star Legend has confessed he has to wear a special type of underwear because he “needs lots of support”.

The iconic series returned to screens this weekend, this time on the BBC. And while the look of the show is sparkly and new, the skintight lycra costumes were back.

And it sounds like plenty of thought went into the costumes, which have been given a red and blue look for 2024. Gladiator Legend, real name Matt Morsia, has confessed that extra thought even went into the underwear choices.

He said: “We had to test out various underwear options so that was an issue at times but the costume is good. It feels nice and looks outrageous, I’m very happy with them to be honest.”

Legend added to The Sun : “I personally do [wear the underwear], I need lots of support, maybe some of the other guys not so much, but for me, yeah, it was really important.” He cheekily added: “You can read into that what you will.”

The uber-fit lad explained he was fine wearing the skimpy outfits as he’s had plenty of experience there. The costume allows him to showcase his whopping 40cm biceps.

Gladiators returned to screens after more than a decade away. Bradley Walsh and his son Barney debuted as its new hosts on Saturday (January 13).

Legend joins a line-up of 15 other Gladiators, all with equally as dramatic names. The ladies are: Athena, Comet, Diamond, Dynamite, Electro, Fire, Fury and Sabre.

Alongside Legend, the lads are: Apollo, Bionic, Giant, Nitro, Phantom, Steel and Viper. And so far, one in particular is impressing fans.

Fans have hailed blonde bombshell Diamond as the “new Jet”. The star, real name Liv Sheldon, seriously impressed viewers, with one saying: “Diamond is definitely this generation’s Jet!”

However, other viewers were left unimpressed by hosts Bradley and Barney. One person said: “Is there nobody available other than Bradley Walsh and son that can present shows?”

Gladiators continues Saturdays at 5.50pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
