Amber Davies ‘in so much pain’ after tearing her quad in painful Dancing on Ice injury

Amber Davies was fully aware of the dangers that come along with joining ITV’s most daring show Dancing On Ice – with most contestants admitting they’d expect and injury or two.

However, for the former Love Island star she didn’t anticipate for her injury to come ahead of the live shows. Which will kick off this Sunday (14 January) with Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern at the hosting helm.

The 27-year-old hadn’t even been performing on the ice when she suffered a terribly painful injury that led to her tearing her quad muscle. As a result, the reality star confessed she still needs to undergo physio every morning to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

At the time of the incident, Amber explained she’d put through her paces by her professional partner Simon Senecal. With the pair having completed a gruelling two and half hour skate session.

After they’d ventured off of the ice, Simon encouraged Amber to try some lifts away from the ice. This so they could drip feed them into their routines down the line as confidence and ability grew.

As Simon lifted Amber up high to try out one move, she was left in a lot of pain. This lead to a hefty two to three weeks of recovery which would have ate into the pairs valuable time on the ice.

Speaking to Daily Star at the round table meeting, she said: “I tore my quad and had a one degree tear at the top of my quad. It wasn’t from off ice training but we’d been on the ice for two and a half hours. So by the end of the session your legs and bum are burning.

“We thought we’d use the time to do a couple of lifts and as he put me up, it just popped the top of my quad. It was so painful. I have to have physio every morning.”

The West End star added: “It kind of made things real for me, like injuries can happen and will happen. Luckily it wasn’t too much of a big tear, it only needed two to three weeks recovery to re-stretch the muscle.”

Dancing On Ice returns to screens this weekend after undergoing some drastic changes with regards to the 2024 format. Stephen Mulhern is stepping in to replace Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby has confirmed that she will return to screens.

Holly recently stepped down from her post on This Morning after she feared for her life after she’d been the target of an alleged murder and kidnap plot. The culprit has been denied bail and will face charges in June.

Knowing that she is safe from harm while the alleged plotter is safely behind bars, the mum-of-three did agree to return to her post as dual presenter on the glitzy show. This time alongside a new host instead of her former co-star Phillip.

Dancing On Ice will air on Sunday, January 14 on ITV1 and ITVX
