Katie Hopkins reported for mocking Kate Garraway over Derek’s death as she hits back

Awful Katie Hopkins has been reported by fans who slammed her for mocking Kate Garraway.

The right-wing media figure, 48, took aim at the Good Morning Britain presenter over the weekend, less than two weeks after she announced that her husband Derek Draper had passed away. In a video posted on X, Hopkins claimed ITV would release a documentary titled “Life after Derek,” adding that Garraway would write a book alongside it.

The former Apprentice star laughed as she said “he’s only been dead a week” before drinking a glass of red wine. Hopkins was permanently banned from Twitter in 2020 for breaching rules on “abuse and harmful contact”, but was reinstated last year when Elon Musk took over.

One person wrote: “Weaponising someone’s tragic death for your grift. Stay classy.” To which the mum-of-three replied: “Literally what Garraway has been doing for two years. Stay chubby. Avoid reading about #ExcessDeaths.”

Another user declared she had crossed a line by mocking Garraway, but this didn’t faze her. The former businesswoman responded: “There is. And what a marvellous line … many assume their line should dictate the line of others. Strangely lefty ‘comedians’ don’t have to worry about a line…”

In the video posted on Saturday (January 13), Hopkins began: “8.30 tonight there’s a documentary on the TV that you all need to watch, yeah, it’s a Kate Garraway documentary, so it’s important that I finish on time for you tonight. And it’s Kate Garraway: Life After Derek.”
