Kid Cudi has been branded “Satanic” and accused of “selling his soul” after unveiling three huge statues of himself.
The rapper has had the monuments, which each measure 30-foot tall, erected to promote his new album, Insano. But the colossal silver statues, one which has been displayed in Paris, another on a boat in Long Beach, California, and a third on the East River in New York City, have been hailed as “demonic” by some fans.
They each depict the 39-year-old musician with his arms outstretched and red lights eerily beaming out through his hollowed-out eyes and mouth. After images of the figures were shared on social media, the Pursuit of Happiness rapper was dubbed “pathetic” and “self-indulgent” for having statues of himself made.

But others were even more horrified by the monuments as they claimed they were a sign Kid Cudi had sold himself to Satanism as they called the figures “false idols” and “blasphemous”. “Pure satanic s**t,” one person commented on an Instagram post of the statues.
A second asked: “Why has everything gone so demonic?” A third outraged critic added: “Sad cuz he sold his souls to the evil one and we don’t give a f***”.
“The people asking how is this demonic, is very concerning that you have to even ask! It’s in plain sight,” another wrote. “I rebuke this image,” one horrified person added.
But some fans of the rapper hit out at the offended critics. One person questioned: “How tf is this satanic?”
Others thought the statues were a great idea. “This is pretty cool,” one fan said. A second agreed, adding: “Lmao I love this for him.”
A third said: “Please sell statues like this I’d seriously buy one.”
Insano is Kid Cudi’s ninth studio album and features collaborators including A$AP Rocky, Lil Wayne, Travis Scott and Young Thug. Released on Friday, it marks his last contractual album with his record label Republic and comes more than a year after he hinted he was nearing the end of his rap career.
In a September 2022 interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music the rapper said: “The Kid Cudi stuff, I think I want to put it on the back burner and chill out with that. I think, I want to be done with it. I think, closing the chapter on Kid Cudi.”
During an appearance on First We Feast’s Hot Ones the following month he said he was “really curious to see what else” he could do outside of music as he suggested he may even try his hand at a career outside of the limelight. “I was thinking about this — and this is like a wacky idea I had years ago. But it would be cool to, like, one day be a kindergarten teacher. And just do that for a couple years,” he said.
He added: “Like, when I’m, like, 50… And I just, like, infect the youth with that freshness. Get ’em young, and then those kids will just sprinkle the freshness to the world, and I’ll just be like, ‘Yes! Yes!’”
Kid Cudi’s representatives have been contacted for comment.
