Dancing on Ice star Adele Roberts has announced that her mother Jackie has died following her first performance on the show.
The TV star took to the ice on Sunday evening (January 21) for the first time, along with partner Mark Hanretty. The pair put on an emotional performance of I Can See Clearly Now by Jimmy Cliff.
However, after her routine, Adele dedicated the dance to her “beautiful” mother – revealing she had sadly passed away. Taking to her Instagram, she uploaded touching pictures of her and her mom.

Alongside the snaps, she wrote: “For you Mum. Tonight’s performance was dedicated to the memory of my beautiful Mum, Jackie Roberts. 01.09.62 – 04.01.24. I didn’t want to say anything until I’d managed to get through our routine tonight. So apologies if it seemed I was overly emotional.”

Adele added: “My heart is broken and I miss my mum so much. Saying goodbye to her this week was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. My mum got to see the start of our routine… and tonight I wanted to finish it in her honour.
“To my family. Thank you for keeping my head up and for giving me the strength to carry on. Thank you also to all the amazing people who came to help us say goodbye to her this week. You brought us so much comfort standing by our side.

“Thank you to the whole incredible Dancing On Ice team for guiding me through one of the toughest weeks of my life. Especially you @markhanretty.”
She went on: “I know how much you wanted to help me do my mum proud and I know it would have been playing on your mind all night. You are incredible. Thank you for teaching me to dance, to skate and joy of expressing emotion through my body. Your sport is so beautiful. I still can’t believe tonight happened.

Adele finished with: “And to my biggest supporter from day one – my incredible mum. Goodnight my love. I shall think of you and miss you everyday of my life. Forever my hero. Until we meet again.”
Adele’s Dancing On Ice co-stars rallied round in the comments section, sending their condolences. Claire Sweeny wrote: “You are such a beautiful brave woman and your mum would have been so proud xxxx.”

While Greg Rutherford penned: “So sorry to hear this @adeleroberts. Your resilience blows my mind. What an absolutely incredible human you are. Sending so much love and support, looking forward to seeing you in the week and giving you the biggest hug.”
44-year-old Adele was praised by the judges panel for her perfect performance on Dancing On Ice at the weekend – despite a mistake occurring in the routine. However, it was not Adele that made the mistake, but her partner, Mark.
Viewers were left gasping after the 38-year-old slipped over on the ice – a chink in his otherwise flawless armour. Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their awe at Adele’s performance.
One user wrote, ” @AdeleRoberts well done tonight,absolute inspiration and a remarkable lady.” Another complimented the emotion of the piece, writing, “[Adele] was amazing wasn’t she! “Had the biggest lump in my throat and a tear to the eye. Such a stunning performance xx”
