This Morning’s Alison Hammond ‘gutted’ as she’s dropped from major TV role

Alison Hamond has reportedly been left “gutted” after finding out she won’t be hosting the 2024 BAFTAs.

The 48-year-old host of This Morning hosted the prestigious ceremony at Royal Festival Hall last year alongside Richard E. Grant. She proved to be hugely popular with viewers of the awards show.

But it seems she hasn’t been given the job this year, where Doctor Who legend David Tennant will step up to hosting duties. And it’s said Alison feels like everything in her career could be “taken away from her” at any given moment.

A source told Closer Magazine: “Alison had really hoped that she could do the BAFTAs for another year and even become a main host. She’s gutted not to be asked back especially as she has built up such a great rapport with all the A-listers in Hollywood who seem to love her too.”

“Alison often suffers from imposter syndrome and thinks that everything could get taken away from her at a moment’s notice, despite all her success. She’s really grateful for everything she has going on right now, but she’s aware how cut-throat the TV world can be.”

David, 52, says he’s “delighted” to be given the BAFTA hosting job. “I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE Bafta Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year’s films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life,” he said.

Jane Millichip, BAFTA’s chief executive, was thrilled he said yes to the job. She said: “He is deservedly beloved by British and international audiences alike. His warmth, charm and mischievous wit will make it a must-watch show.”

Announcing her role last year, Alison said: “I’m so excited to be hosting this year’s EE BAFTA Film Awards with THE Richard E Grant. We’re going to have a lot of fun bringing the glitz and glam of backstage to everyone watching at home around the world.
