The Chase makes history with Strictly star as Bradley Walsh says ‘we’re going to go viral’

The Chase made history with Strictly star Joe Sugg – and Bradley Walsh couldn’t believe it.

The hit ITV gameshow was back on TV screens on Saturday (January 27) for a celebrity version as Bradley Walsh welcomed four famous faces. As fans tuned in, he introduced contestants Myles Stephenson, Joe Sugg, David James and Lucrezia Millarini before they battled it out to take home the all-important cash prize.

This week the famous quartet were up against Paul Sinha, also known as The Sinnerman, who made sure to bring his A-game against the A-listers. But when it came to Joe’s turn he was about to make show history.

During his cash-builder, Strictly star Joe managed to get a hefty £8,000 after getting eight questions correct. Before he battled it out with Paul, the chaser offered him a low and high offer to choose from.

Joe was one of the famous faces on the show

For Paul’s low offer, it was a mere £1,000. But for his high offer, when Joe heard it he had to take a step back – gobsmacked at the number. Paul told him: “And the high offer: £201,000.”

The studio audience and Joe’s co-stars cheered over the amount – possibly the biggest offer made in The Chase history at the time.

Stunned, Joe said: “If I go for the £201K, it could make a viral moment, which is a good thing. But, also, it would be an incredible amount for charity as well.”

He stood and pondered his decision as members of the audience cheered him on and told him: “Go for it.” Joe then declared: “Doing it for Carol, £201K, let’s go.”

The team were over the moon at Joe getting through

It was a tense head-to-head – especially when it came to Joe’s final question. After choosing his answer Bradley told him: “You’re gonna make history here, mate. If you go though you’re making history.” The TV legend went on: “We’re gonna go viral. I better stand next to you if you’re gonna go through! Good luck.”

Luckily, the answer was correct which meant he made history. Joe jumped up and down with excitement as the audience cheered.

Bradley then pulled Joe in for a hug and quipped: “Come, my new best mate!” Joe was joined by Myles Stephenson and David James in the final round. During their game, they managed to get 18 questions correct.

However sadly, the team failed to bag the huge cash prize for charity. The Chaser paul caught up to their score of 18 and the team lost the record-breaking prize.
